Business & Digital Transformation
Transformation only reveals its value once it is put into practice
Business & Digital Transformation for Industrial Companies
Digital transformation is about more than just technology. It affects business models, processes, organizations, and the way companies collaborate with customers and partners.
I help companies leverage business transformation—and digitalization in particular—as targeted value drivers and empower people.
Transformation creates sustainable added value when strategic goals are consistently translated into operational reality.
Examples of my work:
Initial Situation: Following the strategic realignment of the company (2,500 employees), both the business models must be adapted and the organizational structure and operational processes must be optimally aligned for the future.
Assignment: Further development of existing business models, definition of a clear process landscape as the basis for the implementation of a new ERP system (S4/HANA), and adaptation of the organizational structure.
Result: Four business models were refined, and a framework for 18 end-to-end processes was defined up to Level L4. The divisional organizational structure was transformed into a functional one; responsibilities, standardized roles, and job descriptions were established up to the CEO-3 level; and a process organization (BPO/DPO) was introduced. A business continuity plan for the transition and an implementation plan were developed.
Initial Situation: A company with 2,500 employees and a very low level of digital maturity, various media and system silos, and a lack of a shared understanding of digital transformation.
Assignment: Develop a digital vision, a company-wide digitalization strategy, and identify and prioritize specific digital use cases with a focus on efficiency and growth, as well as digitally empowering the organization.
Result: Assessment of the organization's digital maturity level and definition of optimization approaches. Created a company-wide Industry 4.0 vision and identified and prioritized 35 specific digital use cases; defined their requirements, the necessary data, and capabilities; and established a master plan of action and a proposed implementation roadmap. Initiated 17 specific transformation projects and rolled them out step by step in close collaboration with IT.
Background: A newly established innovation organization is tasked with developing digital business models and solutions for customers in the security sector to tap into new business areas and empower the organization itself.
Assignment: Define an innovation strategy, identify revenue-generating use cases, and implement market-ready digital products and services.
Result: Developed a concept for two new business models (High-Security Private Cloud & Secure IIoT), launched a project portfolio featuring various innovation projects (AR/VR, remote support, digital solutions for end users), and secured two client contracts (content management solution and paperless maintenance processes).
Transformation solutions must create measurable added value—both operationally and strategically—and they must be supported by the people involved!
